SCHOOL NEWSLETTER:
An
electronic School Newsletter is distributed every second Thursday. Parents will
receive this via email. We have partnered with Austnews to produce this service
free of charge to the school, with the kind support of our local businesses. It
is important to keep the school informed of any email address changes to ensure
you continue receiving the Newsletter.
CLASSROOM LETTERS:
Various
other notices for specific purposes are sent home through the year. These
include classroom news, excursion letters, excursion/camp. Students are expected
to pass these on to parents, and parents are expected to note the details and
respond as requested.
REPORTING
A student
report card will be issued via email to each child from Years P-6 at the end of Semesters
One and Two. However, because of limitations of space, a report card is only a
summary of progress. Reporting that occurs at a parent/teacher interview is
far more comprehensive. Parents will be informed of school - arranged reporting
interviews at set times each semester. It
is particularly important that parents attend the mid-year interview. Other
interviews may be arranged by parent
or teacher according to need. Parents of Prep students are included in the
parent/teacher conferences.
PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Parents are
encouraged to discuss the progress of their children with class teachers
whenever they, or the teachers, perceive a need. The most suitable times for
such interviews are before or after school. To ensure that both teacher and
parent are prepared for the interview, a mutually suitable time must be
arranged by telephoning the school first. Any concerns you have regarding your
child’s schooling should be discussed first with the teacher.
INTERNET & E-MAIL PROCEDURES:
ICT
includes mobile phones, iPads, computers, printers, scanners, digital cameras,
Internet and e-mail facilities, and other associated electronic and mechanical
hardware and software.
All
students must read and sign the school ICT access agreement prior to using any
electronic material.
COMMUNICATION AND SMS MESSAGING:
In
conjunction with OneSchool we now also use ID Attend which allows the school to
track student attendance, student movement, first aid, administering of
medication and SMS Text Messaging to communicate with our parent
community. The text messaging allows us
to keep all parents/caregivers up-to-date with all events happening around the
school. It also allows us to determine student absences that are
unexplained. All parents are able to
reply to these text messages to advise of these absences.
We look
forward to using these communication tools within our community and see great
benefit for the school and parent/caregivers to keep everyone up to date on
events and other areas in our school.
