Prep is the first year of school and provides the foundation for your child's education. From 2017, it became compulsory for Queensland children to
undertake Prep prior to Year 1. Prep is a full-time program held in primary schools. At Park Ridge State School, children attend Monday-Friday, from 8.50am to 3.00pm. Children must be 5 years old by 30 June in the year they enrol. Check the online calculator to see when your child can start prep.
The
Queensland Government Website provides additional information about Prep, including enrolment age variations.

preparing your child for Prep including early childhood education and care options, and how to get your child ready for their first day of school. Our ‘Get Set for Prep’ booklet is a great resource for developing your child’s school readiness.
Park Ridge State School is enrolment managed. Children within our catchment are entitled to enrol. Available places for preps (living out of our catchment) are limited and the waiting list is filling quickly. Please check the
catchment map to see if you are eligible to enrol.
