Park Ridge State School is an Independent Public School catering for Prep to Year 6 students. The school is located in the Park Ridge suburb of Logan West in the South East Region of the Department of Education and Training. From its humble beginnings in 1895 as a single room rural school of ten children and one teacher, Park Ridge State School has evolved into a large campus of 24 classes and approximately 600 students. The school implements the Australian Curriculum through a range of engaging pedagogies. Students are provided with opportunities to participate in STEM, HPE, Instrumental Music and the Arts, Languages (German in Years 3-6) and participate in swimming lessons in our own onsite swimming pool. Curriculum delivery is supported by our eLe@rn BYO Apple iPad program. There is a strong emphasis on effective literacy and numeracy teaching and engagement in learning. All students are supported through a multi-tiered system of support which is facilitated by Engagement Teachers and Teacher Aides to ensure that student needs and wellbeing are supported. In addition, we have a wellbeing team to support students and their families. This team comprises of our Guidance Officer, Social Worker, Chaplain and additional school staff. Teaching staff work in year level Professional Learning Teams to collaborate in improving student learning and achievement. The school utilises the Positive Behaviour for Learning framework and social-emotional capability development to equip students with the skills and competencies to develop social and emotional skills. Our staff are intentional about engaging children in positive, meaningful experiences to increase engagement and promote school as a place of connection, belonging and learning. Facilities include some refurbished classrooms, all classrooms utilise interactive whiteboard technology, school hall, resource centre with library and STEM lab, swimming pool, exceptionally large outdoor play spaces, tuckshop and we also have an Outside School Hours Care service offering before and after school care and vacation care.
