Students at Park
Ridge State School have many opportunities to participate in sport, including
weekly HPE lessons and Sports Days.
HPE Lessons:
Swimming: The school has a heated swimming pool. During the swimming season (February-March
and October-December) all students will participate in weekly swimming
instruction activities. The lesson will be conducted by the Physical Education
Specialist. Occasionally, a class may swim twice each week. Bathing caps are compulsory. Swimming
is a part of the school curriculum and as such, pupils will not be excused from
lessons unless there are medical reasons. In such circumstances, a WRITTEN REQUEST for exclusion
is required FROM PARENTS.
Please ensure your child brings their swimming items to school on the correct
days.
Winter HPE Lessons: Lessons are usually
conducted weekly, by the Physical Education Specialist. The program is
prepared by the P.E. teacher and is fitness and skill based.
Sports Days:
Sports Days have a
high level of participation and students have competed successfully at district
and regional level. Interhouse athletics, cross country and swimming carnivals
are conducted annually. Pupils may be selected to participate in athletics, cross-country
and swimming at a district, regional and state level depending on their
abilities. House Captains and Vice-captains are elected.
Sports Houses:
Park Ridge has 4
house colours:
Maclean: Blue
Lindesay: Red
Oxley: Yellow
